I had stage 3 endometriosis diganosed 11 years ago after batling to fall pregnant with my second child. I eventually fell pregnant naturally after my third laperoscopy. As a 48 year old healthy active woman, I would like to consider HRT as enter menopause. Since endometriosis is an estrogen dependant disease, would there be any concerns with HRT?

Endometriosis poses unique considerations for women approaching or experiencing menopause. While hormone replacement therapy (HRT) after menopause can bring relief from typical symptoms, its application for those with a history of endometriosis requires careful evaluation. The potential concern lies in the stimulation of endometrial tissue growth by hormonal interventions, possibly leading to a resurgence of endometriosis-related symptoms. Women with endometriosis may face a delicate balance between managing menopausal discomfort and avoiding a reactivation of their condition. It becomes crucial for healthcare providers to conduct thorough assessments, considering individual medical histories and the nuanced nature of endometriosis, to formulate treatment plans that address both menopausal symptoms and the specific challenges posed by endometriosis.
Please consult with your HCP to review all the potential treatments available and find the one that would suit you best.
